Playa Grande boasts a sandy bottom beach breaks with perfect left and right peaks, it could hold waves up to almost double-overhead.

The beach is also long enough that you never feel crowded, there are multiple main surf breaks starting at the river mouth and running towards Hotel Las Tortugas.
